The many faces of Prince
By Martin Homent
Being a huge Prince fan, I wanted to create some work as an homage to my idol. Given that he has had pretty much a new look and album every year, it gave me the idea of producing some simple illustrations that showcase his changing style. I aim to complete one for every year of his career to date and will hopefully animate them, once they are complete.
Here’s a sneak peak at the first eight. For those who aren’t fans, this is 1981, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1993 and 2014. If you have any requests of what year/era you’d like to see next, please email me.
I’m also very excited to announce that Prince recently got in touch to purchase an illustration I created for 3rdeyegirl. He now owns the image, so you may see it soon. Although if you keep your third eyes open, you might spy it in my twitter or instagram feed.
Prince’s hairstyles: an illustrated chronology
London-based illustrator Gary Card has taken album covers, press images and paparazzi shots of the Purple One and compiled them into an impressive chronology: Prince’s hair. With Prince in London for a few shows, he was moved to publish his work on Instagram. Inspired by the fact that, as of late, his hairstyle has come full circle, Card set out to document the (r)evolution, which is especially stunning as a slideshow.
